What are Examples of Abnormal Sleep?

A healthier life can be achieved by obtaining restful sleep. Studies have shown that Abnormal Sleep or Clinical Sleep Dysfunctions such as; Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Snoring, Insomnia and Circadian Rhythm Disorders can lead to increased blood pressure, daytime sleepiness, cardiovascular disease and an overall increased mortality rate.

Clinical Sleep dentistry is the treatment of these sleep dysfunctions. It's a non-invasive, comprehensive evaluation of airway potential and jaw positioning leading to the fabrication of a custom oral appliance, which alleviates the dysfunction by idealizing the flow of air into the lungs during sleep.

The general symptoms of sleep dysfunction include:

  • Daytime sleepiness
  • Memory loss
  • Morning headaches
  • Irritability
  • Anxiety or depression
  • Inability to concentrate

  • Snoring
  • Restless sleep, restless legs
  • Cessation of breathing while sleeping (typically reported by partner) This is referred to as Apnea
